The Government of India and the Ministry of Women and Child development has declared 24th January as the National Girl Child Day to highlight the importance of protection of Girl child in the society, in view of the imbalance of the male female ratio in the society. This year Government of India decided to celebrate National Girl Child Week from 24th January to 31st January. During this week Chandigarh Social Welfare Board celebrated National Girl Child Day at Bal Bhawan, Chandigarh where students from all over the city were invited to be part of the celebrations.
It was a moment of immense happiness when the CIS students spelled their magic as Hritik won 1st prize and Ishika and Ananya won 2nd and 3rd prize respectively ( Solo Singing/ Poetry recitation ).Lyrics and Composition of the song, sung by Hritik was done by our music teacher Mr. Munish and the poems were penned down by our English faculty, Mr. Simranjeet Singh. It was a great experience for the students as they contributed their bit in spreading the awareness on Girl Child protection.
