A Collaboration Of Promise With The Groundbreaking Edureform Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

While previous industrial revolutions liberated humankind from animal power and made mass production possible, the Fourth Industrial Revolution remains fundamentally different, as it brings with it, the indomitable wave of Artificial Intelligence. These artificial intelligences, importantly, stand to impact all disciplines, economies and industries. Correspondingly, scientific literature has time and again illustrated the potential negative impacts that such revolution carries, mostly on employability. In this regard and as visible in the recent trends in migrations, unemployment is not a mere national affair and this makesthe Fourth Industrial Revolution a subject of global governance.

According to People Strong Report, in India, 1.5 million jobs annually will be lost due to automation – affecting primarily labour force from disadvantaged socio-economic background. Therefore, mankind needs to be equipped with such skills and knowledge that help it to combat the negative impact of the 4IR. Importantly, to prepare the society for the upcoming changes and challenges, education system and timing would be crucial factors.

The EDUREFORM Project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of European Union was launched keeping in mind this need of skill development among world inhabitants, especially, the teachers. In line with the same, the promising curricula under the project aim to empower future and in-service secondary school teachers to develop and enhance students’ critical, analytical, and creative skills. What is becoming crucial for us now is to look at performing and solving tasks that are not achievable by artificial intelligence. The objective of EDUREFORM therefore is to create national best practices to support Indian national authorities in successfully coping with societal challenges directly related to Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Not to mention, under the promising project, the academic teachers’ education program stands to be modernized. Especially, with the organisation of vocational trainings, the best practices and effective teaching techniques will be disseminated among in-service teachers. Furthermore, in order to succeed in its mission, the EDUREFORM team comprises experts from Indian and European universities, working closely with Indian and European schools. This forward-looking team is assisted by an Indian analytics company managing talent development that aims to prepare national workforces for the ever-changing demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
